Friends

I really enjoy meeting new people. Whether they buy one of my musical creations or not it’s always interesting to see who comes over to talk to me.

I was fortunate enough to share a tent at Toast Nebraska 2015 with Matt Zimmerle. He’s a tobacconist with SG Roi in the Old Market or Bellevue. Matt knows his stuff when it comes to Cigars.

In the alternative, let’s design an instrument together. One we both know will be eye catching and a creation special to you as well.

First Show of 2015 Toast Nebraska

It’s show season again! I am excited to announce the first show of the season for Wilderness Guitars will be the 2nd Annual Toast Nebraska event. The event will be held at Mahoney State Park, May 1 and 2, 2015. We will have a new batch of cigar box guitars and cigar box ukeleles just for you. We may even have a few cigar box amps. Mahoney is right off of exit 426 on Interstate 80.

Held in the Open Air Pavilion, come and celebrate Nebraska’s Wine Industry! Fans of Nebraska wine can raise a glass at the first annual “Toast Nebraska” wine festival brought to you by Blur Parties, in partnership with the Nebraska Winery and Grape Growers Association. Seventeen Nebraska Winery tasting rooms will be constructed at picturesque Mahoney State Park, bringing event-goers a myriad of activities. Make Toast Nebraska your weekend destination and enjoy live music, unlimited wine samplings, wine pairings, wine education, an amateur wine making competition, unique food pairings, art and jewelry vendors and trolley tours throughout the park. Tickets are available through http://www.blurparties.com/

A Park Entry Permit is required.

We will be stationed right next to the cigar vendor. So as you are tasting wine and enjoying the atmosphere come check out a unique musical instrument made right here in Nebraska.DSCF1136

How do you tune a

fish? No you’re not here tune a fish or listen to me tell stupid jokes are you. You’re here because you want to know how to tune your new cigar box guitar or ukulele.  So let’s get right to the point.

There are probably a lot of ways you can tune these instruments, but I’m just going to give one basic way for each instrument.

For cigar box ukulele, it is set up just like a regular concert uke. The tuning is G C E A beginning with the string on top as you hold it against your chest. Here’s a diagramtuneuke

OK so what about a cigar box guitar? Easy. I recommend an open tuning. I tune all CBG guitars in open G. Tuning is as follows: G D G B. You will be able to play your chords with one finger by barring across all the strings behind the fret. So here’s the diagram for the CBG:

cbgtuneHope you enjoy playing and finding new tunes on your instrument. As I can I will post hints and fun things to play on the blog. Also drop me a line anytime!

Thanks for your patronage
