Aksarben Village May 15

We’re back at Aksarben Village for the Farmer’s Market this Sunday the 15th. Same spot as last week. I’ll have different guitars to display, same ukes. If there was something in particular you were interested in let me know ahead of time so I can make sure to bring it.

Also I will be taking orders for Blue Tooth amps. I’m asking $50.00 with a $30.00 deposit. These little amps are awesome! Very good sound and portable. We just need to pair it up with a box you like. 🙂

Weekend Wrap Up

Well we had a great Saturday. Thanks for everyone’s interest. The strings on the ukes were still settling in since they were new, but they’re good to go now. If there is a uke you are interested in and it doesn’t play quite to your satisfaction I can set up the action a bit more to your liking. In building instruments you don’t always get to fine tune until later.

We also got a late call for the Aksarben Village Farmer’s Market. It was really good to be back there and busy as always. A lot of you had a lot of interest in the blue tooth speaker. If you were there and I couldn’t get them to work, I found out as I switched between units that it was getting confused. I had to go back into my phone settings to choose which amp to activate. So, much to my relief the issue was not with the amp itself. I had also advertised them with a “trial” price of $80.00. Judging from the interest compared to the price, I may have been a little high. I’ve decided to come down on my price $50.00. I really want to get these speaker in your hands in a box, lunchbox or other container so you can enjoy your music on the smart phone. Just e-mail me and we can work out the details for a custom blue tooth speaker!pics 5062016 037pics 5062016 036

Rockbrook Village Spring Fever Craft Show

Finally Spring has come and so has the beginning of craft season! After a long winter and building a few more instruments I’m ready to come back outside! I hope you are too.

This May 7, 2016 we will be at the Rockbrook Village Shopping Center at 108th St and W Center Rd from 10:00am til 5:00pm.

I will be featuring the cigar box guitars and ukes as usual. My wife will also have her own booth with those cute knitted animals you are used to seeing at the Farmer’s Market.

I’m sure there will be more opportunities, but this will be one of the few shows I show all my inventory.

Keep coming back for updates and news!

An Amazing Turnout!

We had an amazing turnout at the Holiday show this weekend. We sold many guitars and ukes. But we still have a good variety left. I have updated the pictures on the site to only show the guitars still available. You can contact me via e-mail or text. Of note I have 2 ukuleles left, 4 amps and over 10 4 string guitars. I want to quickly highlight the 3 four string guitars that have adjustable intonated bridges. Why are these special? Because they are set up to dial in the intonation of each string. That means the guitar plays better and sounds better. But if you are going for the down home bolt style bridge reminiscent of old time blues players just scrapping a box and strings together. Then by all means buy one of those guitars.

Having lots of Fun at Aksarben Village

Folks we had a lot of fun today at the Physicians Mutual & WOWT Holiday show at Akarben Village (67th & Center). But we still have Sunday to go! So if you were still thinking about a cigar box guitar or ukulele Sunday is definitely the day to come on down. There’s tons of free parking and free admission. This is the only show we are doing this December. It is the best opportunity to see, touch and hear everything close up. I don’t display at any other venue and I don’t have any way of showcasing everything at my home. I hope to see you tomorrow. Also check out the Omaha Farmers Market Facebook Page. I have an advertised promo there that might be of interest to you.

Latest Show Oct. 10 & 11

We had a great time at the Rockbrook Village Apple Day Craft Show. We look forward to being there next year. But we have managed to schedule a last minute appearance this weekend at the Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs for the Callahan Promotions Craft Show. They advertise 200 vendors. Hours are 9-5 on Saturday and 9-4 on Sunday.

Why should you buy a cigar box guitar or ukelele? Their fun! Really! How many people do you see playing a musical instrument made from a cigar box. I have been building guitars for over 10 years so I know how to make these instruments structurally sound and playable. I use woods that are exciting to look at yet able to withstand time if they are taken care of.

How do you take care of these instruments? The same way you do with any acoustic instruments. Don’t go dunking these babies in the river or smash them on the stage. Well unless that’s what you like to do in your show. Then come back and buy another one and continue to rock out!

So if you were sitting on the fence last weekend, Now is the weekend to commit. We’ll have our entire set up that you see in the Omaha Farmer’s Market too! That includes the knitted animals and pens! More info in the link.

WOW!

What an amazing turn out for Taste of Omaha! I am truly humbled by your response and fascination with the cigar box instruments I had for sale. Many of you mentioned an instrument would be a perfect gift for the holidays. No doubt, but it’s also a great gift for a birthday, graduation, wedding or just because.

I still have plenty of ukuleles and 4 string guitars left. If you live in the Omaha area and would like to purchase an instrument please call (402-305-3941) or e-mail me (al@wildernessguitars.com). I don’t have a store front other than when I go to shows, but I can certainly meet with you if you have an instrument you like. You can still go to the online store to purchase. Please let me know how the experience was.
